The Tours

August 31, September 14 and 28: Central Park — Nature & Design

START TIME 10 a.m. This is a 2-hour tour.

Meet on northeast corner (statue of Simon Bolivar) of 59th St. & Sixth Avenue

The philosophic ideal of Nature and an emerging sense of a thoroughly American approach to Design provided the foundations for the original conception and creation of Central Park. Yet the succeeding 150 years have seen tremendous changes both to the Park itself and to the way in which New Yorkers view Vaux and Olmsted's masterpiece. Walk with us on a two-hour tour through the heart of the Park where we will attempt to see some of its original beauty and visit its major attractions. Saturday, September 7, 2013: America's Hamlet — Edwin Booth

The Edwin Booth tour on Sept. 7 has been canceled

Saturday, October 26, 2013: Ectoplasm — The Tour!

11 a.m. This is a 90-minute tour.

Meet on southeast corner of 72nd Street and Central Park West

Description: Midnight wanderers, mysterious visitors, floating orbs, things that glow in the dark -- hard to believe all the specters that haunt Central Park West! Bring your taste for the ghoulish on this tour that features all new ghost stories culled from personal interviews, newspaper accounts, diaries, and whispered conversations. Your guide: Maria Dering.
